Yes yes I know its stupid buying a laptop for gaming, shut up! I cant carry a desktop to where I work, it's too awkward.

Any ideas of a decent laptop for gaming? Anything under a grand really, but cheapness is good jaa.

The usual specs, i5 or i7, 500gb drive, 4gb ram, 15" or smaller if it's possible etc

Shame you gotta buy a laptop for gaming but anyways..

MSi do some decent gaming laptops. I've been reading you can get some storming deals off Dell direct on gaming spec laptops. I'm not a lover of Dell mind.

January sales and all that you should get a good laptop for a decent price if you shop around.

For under a grand you're gonna be struggling to get a decent GPU. About the best you're gonna find is a GT 550M or 6650M which are both similar in performance terms; roughly equivalent to what's in the PS3/Xbox 360 and therefore utterly shit.

Something like this might just about be ok: http://www.ebuyer.com/260495-asus-n53sv ... 3sv-sx303v
This has a GT555 which is about 1/3rd faster, has greater power consumption but should have optimus: http://www.ebuyer.com/281862-asus-n55sf ... 5sf-s2342v

The proper 'gaming' class mobile GPUs are the likes of the GTX460M/560M which are 3-4 times quicker than these, but I think you'll do well to get something within budget with one of those... about the best I can see is: http://www.ebuyer.com/321934-msi-gt683- ... t683-694uk

Awesome work larchballs. Seriously, we need a whipround for the work you do here. I've been looking for a few hours and came up with a laptop with the GT540M, but that MSI (shut up pers) will do the trick.

Now to get it here...

Dell outlet do refurbs at a fraction of full cost (with 12 month warranty) - alienware stuff, ship worldwide etc.... dunno if that's worth you taking a peep at.
The sooner you get behind, the longer you have to catch up.
