I'm getting 10054 disconnects, in applications like Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 R2, Outlook 2007 (exchange account), ICQ etc. typically at least once every 3 minutes, without fail.

i had a quick google and SPI could be the reason for these disconnections.

Recently had this laptop 'workified', with corporate McAfee and the firewall is switched on.

Don't have access to turn off McAfee services etc.

Are there any tools I could use to find out what exactly is causing the disconnects ?

I just want to know what the hell is causing it. It's a Dell Precision M6300 laptop.

We're supposed to be using voip through Microsoft Office Communicator soon, which will be difficult with constant discos.

Isn't that normally a network or remote server issue? Since its a laptop any chance of trying it on a different connection just to see if it's a problem with router/ISP or something?

Else it could be something like the app getting a timeout because it's being blocked by... well... firewall as you say or something. Maybe you need to open some ports up :/ Dunno... all fairly obvious suggestions I suppose.

Happens on work lan, at home on virgin cable and now at my inlaws on DSL.

I'm currently convinced it's something on my laptop.

I guess i'll just try shutdown services/apps to the barest minimum, although i'll have to get IT to stop mcafee :/

it ran find in safe mode, no disco parties.

i removed Checkpoint SecureRemote/SecureClient, which i've realised i don't need anymore as it hooks into the network stack, so I uninstalled it and hey presto, so far, no disconnects. fingers and arse crossed.
