Just a warning, don't photograph the police unless you like being arrested and harassed. A friend of mine went to Notting Hill Carnival and her husband saw the police arresting a drunk man. A guy started photographing them which got him arrested, and my friends' husband took photos of that and got himself arrested. They arrested anout 6 people in total (that she saw) for taking photos of the police arresting people for taking photos, and 1 for taking photos of a drunk being arrested. FFS.

The law now states you can't take photos of the police and armed forces when they're carrying out counter terrorism duties... like arresting drunks, or if they believe you are photographing things for terrorism reasons. Lots of places to read up on this stuff, loads of examples of over-zealous policemen who incidentally are FAR more likely to go for anyone with a DSLR/SLR (apparently terrorists don't use mobile phone cameras or shit like that).

We never did this when we continually had Sky et all thrusting lenses in our faces and trying to break through our cordon at Rothbury. Wtf you'd be wanting to take the piss like that is another matter - would be polite to ask first.

Stupid overblown laws will result in an equal but opposite reaction.
