Can someone recommend a simple to use photo/video editing bit of software...

When the little un arrives I want to be able to do short films with some stills and captions interwoven (perhaps some music overlay) so I can send them off to my relatives that live outside UK.

Ta :D

I've used loads of these kinds of software with the notable exception of Adobe Premiere, it's a little flakey (which is better than most) but it's by far the best (IMHO etc).

Just note that if you want photo editing as such, that's a completely different kettle of fish (e.g. Photoshop).

If it's simple stuff, I would just check if MS Movie Maker (free) does everything you want.

You can cut and splice video, add titles, dub audio etc.

If you are on Windows 7, it's part of MS Live Essentials. They have a single download setup, you just click on what you want to install, so just select Movie Maker and that's all it'll install (although install security essentials if I were you, since it's now pretty good).

Live Essentials (Win7 & Vista)
