Forum kudos if you can name the song the subject is from :)

Yes I've reinstalled the bloody game, nothing better to play atm :P

Anyone worked out their talent templates yet? I've just been going through all the classes I play (basically all except Shaman and Druid) and have some templates but have not a clue where to start with Rogues or Warlocks, and only having reached 18 with my Warrior I can't appreciate what half the talents do.

Please note that the links are to the test phase talent builder, the new ones completely bugger my browser, I just hope there's not much (if any) difference.

This will be my likely spec until BC hits. IMO, deflection is a must have. Improved Revenge is useless in high end raids as most mobs are immune. As an offtank I was considering putting some points into Focussed Rage (dropping points from IDS maybe)

When TBC hits, I'll likely go this.

I haven't worked out my frostmage's spec in all details yet (Arathor was down yesterday), but after playing a bit on the PTR I decided that, given that at level 60 you cannot have both the water elemental and improved counterspell, I will skip the water elemental for now, taking the 17 points in arcane to get improved counterspell instead. That 4 seconds of silence is too important to me, both in pvp and in 5-man groups. So probably I will go for http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=Rf0E00bZZVVGRkfxobo .

My warlock already was mostly affliction, with a little demonology for the improved Imp, VW and healthstone, and it will stay that way - which means I will be able to get unstable affliction: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=IEMdiRbzqtbof0h

I'm not sure yet how my fire mage's and my hunter's specs will look. I think I'll stick with the general ideas behind their current build (heavy fire, little arcane for the mage: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=kbxA00bZAg0zbccoeo , mostly marksmanship for the hunter: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=mLZxEboEu0xot0h )

My rogue (he's only level 50) will probably try some build that allows best use of his current gear - which means mace specialization. If nothing else that at least means he will not be a cookie cutter :) http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=iZMLEzMVt000oZxMh

Apparently the water elemental is bugged badly, mainly the pet control bar not appearing and as they default to passive mode it's makes them little more than standard decorative pets.

I also should have mentioned my builds ignore any PvP considerations as I play carebear stylee.

Haven't got access to the calculator since I am in work. However all I can say about is the hunter and warrior since I have both at 60.

For the hunter I would personally look more into Markmanship tree since there are some nice toys to play with, extra range, scatter shot [ extremely handy ability] and aimed shot.

As for the pet skills well I picked things that made a uber pet, i.e. loads of hps and armour but could still dish out the dps if required, also aspect of hawk is a must early on makes a hell of a difference to dps output even though it kicks in occasionally but it kicks in more than you think, other great talent not sure off the top of my head is spiritual bond both you and your pet heal cuts downtime drastically and survive longer in any pvp encountered since you regenerate all the time, and the pet stun talent can't remeber what its called extremely handy ability, the newer talents look ok but it down to personal game style, if you want a sniper then full MM is the way.

Depends on your play type, I have a hybrid spec and do very well in both pvp and pve / solo.

As for warrior well I will just add some point which I didn't have into protection so end up with 30/20/15 or however it works out on points that way I can pvp, solo if needed and be a half useful tank.

Yoco plays solely on PvE serves as well Tons, his input was from BG's I'd guess.

Raid healing priest spec is pretty unchanged. 23/28/0 now rather than 25/26/0ish. Shadow priest, I'm unsuire whetehr it's worth going all the way to the 41point talent, as from my reading the mana regen is really only worth it for the full group, and hence mainly for raids, in those guilds that actually use shadow priests. In 5 mans, priests invariably are expected to heal, irrespective of spec, or that was what I always found.

I can't get any of you links to work, nmaybe bliz's site is still getting hit hard, but more liley the url is changed as it's not "under development" anymore. Wowhead as Stew used is safer!

Stew's covered the MT warrior spec. I'm a little stuck on how to talent my warrior, he's still levelling and where before there was a pretty easy path through arms an fury, now it makes more sense to focus I think, but I'm not sure how :(

I had understood that arcnae had been really buffed, raterh than just beinga support tree, but as my mage is only 39, I've not botehred considering specs really.

Rogues seem to have got a bit of a bum deal, vanish is still totally broken and the way the trees are balanced, pretty much every rogue needs items from at least 2 trees, so the 41 point skills are out, saldy. I'll go for a pve 5man 5daggers spec I reckon, and possibly spec to swords once I get some decent ones.

Locks are the opposite though, each tree has it's own deep build which seesm very viable. While UI testing on stormrage last night while AA was down, 100% of the lockpets I saw out and about were the new 41point demonology summon though, which was quite bizarre. I'll be speccing heavily into affliction - probably 46/5/0 - and getting some fast boots to be a mobile dot applier, or that's the plan.

Hunter/Pally, no real idea. Pally's have had a massive buff in dps output though, but I know so little about them that I couldn't even tell you which tree that was due to.

That's correct - my active characters are on the pve realm Arathor (same BG as Al'Akir, so we may meet in bgs some time :) ). The only character I have actively pvp-ed with is my troll frostmage Yocolia (who just hit rank 8 in time to be able to buy the rank 8 items)

feign wrote:I can't get any of you links to work, nmaybe bliz's site is still getting hit hard, but more liley the url is changed as it's not "under development" anymore. Wowhead as Stew used is safer!

My links (I edited them in later on) are on wowhead too. I am not sure if the talent trees on wowhead are the same as the ones on the current live realms though. A quick look at the rogue talent tree will probably show whether the live realms are up to date or not (improved sap is supposedly now a tier 2 talent, as it is on wowhead, instead of tier 3).

I saw plenty of felguards around. But I wonder how many of those were there because people went Whooa, IMBA talents!!! 41 point talents!!! must have!!! before checking what those new talents actually *are*

Actually that's a good point, I have it on my tank spec, bit of a waste though as tanks will tend to stick in def stance once battle has begun.

Mac-10 wrote:For the hunter I would personally look more into Markmanship tree since there are some nice toys to play with, extra range, scatter shot [ extremely handy ability] and aimed shot.

Extra range is always good, at first I thought an extra 6 yards sound paltry but it's actually an extra shot off on a closing mob, and puts you out of range of a lot of instance boss AoE effects. So yeah, agreed there :)

Scatter shot I've never had so no idea. Aimed shot I have currently but almost never use, I just can't seem to find an application for it. As my melee weapons totally suck the last thing I need is to pull aggro from my pet so I rarely use it.

I'd probably spec in marksmanship if I went instance grinding with my Hunter and pets are not so useful, but I prefer my pet tank to be uber for soloing. Also I have Brokentooth who has a 1.0 attack speed, so a couple of skills speed that up means he hits at the speed of a hummingbird.

Mac-10 wrote:aspect of hawk is a must early on makes a hell of a difference to dps output even though it kicks in occasionally but it kicks in more than you think

My problem with it (I had it before the patch) is that it ALWAYS procs as you kill a mob, so more often than not it's wasted. Probably just me but it felt that way :P

The pet stun ability is great, I use it one hell of a lot, great for getting aggro back to your pet.

feign wrote:Raid healing priest spec is pretty unchanged...

Have to take your word for it there, my priest is only 48 and like most of my characters is there for soloing. Not had any problems with healing in 5 man groups so far, not sure how these new talents are going to effect that though.

feign wrote:I can't get any of you links to work, nmaybe bliz's site is still getting hit hard, but more liley the url is changed as it's not "under development" anymore.

Links still work for me, not sure what the issue is but the specs are posted under each link anyway.

feign wrote:I had understood that arcnae had been really buffed, raterh than just beinga support tree, but as my mage is only 39, I've not botehred considering specs really.

Aye, I've seen quite a few mage templates now a people are going deep into the arcane tree. I still don't feel quite at home with it though, it's got utility but no clear use, like fire for uber damage and ice for control. I'm also a sucker for going deep into one tree to get the high talents and ignoring the rest :P

I'd be really interested to see your Warlock build, I really have not got a clue about what's best for a lock.

Yoco - I think a lot of people read the early TBC/PTR reports and watched the youtube videos that saw felguards basically owning massively. What they didn't do is watch for updates to spec trees and see that felguard and bunch of other high level demonolgy stuff got "trimmed" in the last ptr push. We'll see, it's still viable I'm sure, just not teh iwin button that it was.

Tons - Plans are for this deep afflcition build.
As Salv summarised it:
Talents: 46/5/0 (This can be varied a lot, and by dropping DE, we can get malediction and shadow embrace for higher pve utility).

Key Points: Good dps, shining in multi-target fights. Very good mana-efficiency. Good pvp utility. Lacking burst damage.
Kit Needs: +shadow, +sta, +hit. No + crit needed. If you have a lot of crit gear, that basically goes to waste with this spec.
Skill use - Unstable Affliction, Corruption, Imp/Amp CoA or Maledicted CoS/E, Siphon Life, Life tap, Drain Life or Shadowbolt as filler.

Variants to both builds are plenty.

Basically, swap drain life for shadow bolt once you've dotted your target, only using SB when you get a nightfall. It's a mobile, high damage build, flexible for pve and pvp, with very little downtime.

The changes to affliction make it a tree that really rewards spending most of your points there, with things like drain life being more effective if a target has more afflictions dotted on it.

Thanks, some minor differences from Kazza's, but they both seem to make a lot of sense. Warlock is surely the most complicated class there is :P

I get the feeling Warlock Shaman and Drood are the classes that just can't use the vanilla interface, there's too many buttons you need (possibly preezt too)

Kaz, you really should put 1 point in shadow embrace, as it's a free-cast affliction (meaning it auto-aplies with any agony/corruprion/syphon/seed) and it counts as an affliction making each of your drain spells 5% more effective.

Malediction, that's a raiding choice, so I understand, but the not chosing instant cast Howl of Terror means you won't plan much PvP I guess?

I took curse of exhaustion given I'm swapping forma standard SM/Ruin "drain-tank" approach to a deep affliction drain-kite, so it made sense. Kaz's build is more a min-maxed raid build, built to dish damage solely, while mine is for a non-raiding toon.

Tonster I also have Broken Tooth and and 2 others, the boar I currently run with I find is best in most circumstances due to its ability to stun, lethal against caster, you then use the stun ability, so theres 2 stuns there and then, combine that with the highest bite and high armour/hps you have one mean piggy, its personal choice.

Aimed shot I use when the pet has engaged and is hitting shit out of the mob / player since as a NE you can Fade and aim shot, not so viable as a horde, but anyway since Broken Tooth isn't the toughest pet in the world the aimed shot really takes mobs down very quickly, stick in a sting and a arcane shot dead mob rinse repeat and your pet doesn't take half as much damage, btw you won't even get into melee with anything if you do it right.

Get scatter shot, warrior sprinting at you watch them wander around like dimwits whilst you decide either to kill them or plain run away, same as a rogue who as jumped you, can't stress how handy the ability is enough, even if you haven't used it yet, you will, especially if feign death doesn't work.

Having been pulled back into the game myself I've been playing around with different mage specs a fair bit.

Started with full frost and didn't really like it... Then tried arcane with with enough points in fire just to get ignite/pyroblast and utterly hated it although if your left to just sit and nuke its probalby the highest dps spec due to such high crits. Tried full fire, quite good, dragon's breath is very nice and I just loved having blastwave back but in pvp the survivability is just too much of an issue. So then I thought I'd give full frost another chance and now I've got used to using the water elemental properly I just can't get enough of it ;) and the range frost nova is godly. The petbar is still bugged but I use hotkeys for it so it doesn't matter.

Spec i finished on is this: http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=RZZiAGIkfxsbot

My level 60 build till TBC, you destroy people in PvP with this.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent-bc=IVMbZ0xZxx0tr0tAuAo

Level 70 build at 70, i'd guess you'd destroy people in PvP with this!

That second build will be untill i get into PvE more at 70, warlock will now be my main class in TBC :)

I'll also add that anyone who specs felguard is a chump!

Shag, I'm curios as to why you put one point in DE instead of maxing emberstorm.

My impression of lvl 60 builds so far is that you can do well in both pve and pvp with 41 pts or more in either tree. It's more a matter of playstyle. Personally I'm really happy with 46/5/0 but I might respec to 48/3/0 or 51/0/0.

Come tbc 46/5/11 is what I'm thinking about, but I might go deep destro as well. For raids 0/21/40 seems tempting.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so!

I didn't want to drop below 5k HP unbuffed for the PvP side of things and with that destruction build missing 1 point in emberstorm is neither here nor there for now :P

My final PvE build at 70 for raiding will depend on if we have a shadow priest or fire mages in the raid.

Dunno how you can live without Bane tho!
