You see I've got this rash... oh wait, wrong forum.

I was questing in Ferelas as a level 40 and completed a quick quest which involved killing the Naga by Feathermoon Stronghold and then this happened;

Image

I don't normally have the combat log showing but when this happened I flicked over to it and saw I'd just received 11600 rep points o_O

Is this normal or was I a jammy bastard on the receiving end of a fluke bug?

PS on a different note not worthy of a new thread, apparently there are tameable mobs around with some kind of 'charge and stun' skill you can learn. Anyone know who/what/where to get it from?

Almost 12k rep from one quest complete is not usual !

I'd check to see if you've still got it when you log in this evneing/next time. If so, be thankful for a beneficial bug, for once.

If you search these forusm, there are some good hunter guide pages posted by a few people a long time ago, one of which definitelty included a mob by mob run thn through of where to get certain skills. I know that Kiwi on his hunter went to RFD solely to tame one of teh pig mobs in there, specifically for that charge/stun skill I beleive.

There's also an useful mod Fizzwidget's huntershelper which adds teh learable skills to the mouse over detail of any beast (the same authro does a group of other good mouse over add-ons to add data such as crafting uses, etc, all very nice. The patch notes on that Ui link page say that it;s certain boards that have that charge ability added in 1.9, apparently.

I'll check tonight to see if it's still there :)

Cheers for the info. here's a link inreturn which I found from Google which is pretty good;
http://www.goodintentionsguild.info/hun ... wabilities

It seems only pigs can have the charge/stun ability, but I didn't know that cats can have stealth. I shall be returning to STV tonight :D

I think I might tame a little piggy for my third permanent pet. Got BrokenTooth and Bangalash so far, not really sure what would be best as a third choice.

I think one of the reasons Kiwi went for the RFD pig is as they level up, they get bigger in size, which is sort of funky.

I prefer 'Porker'.

Dumb ass question I can probably work out in-game, but can't from where I'm sat... Pet abilities, have I got this right?
1) Pets get 300 points (over time) which you can spend on their skills
2) Prowl rank 1 is 10 points and Prowl rank 2 is 20 (example numbers), I train my pet in rank 1 so rank 2 then costs me only 10 (ie rank 2 minus rank 1 cost)

Have I got that right? I'm just trying to work out a pet talent template.

Hi,

Some rumbligns from my side - what I learned or at least what I believe is true ;).

Yes you can learn lower level skills and gaining higher level will cost you only the difference. But look at the stats and be sure of your future build - you can learn great talents from pet trainers (like increased stamina, armor, resistance) but you have limited number of skills - AFAIK only one of those trainable from pet trainer skill can be maxed.

Found this and it's very handy, a pet talent calculator.

http://petcalc.tripod.com/

Doesn't have Charge but it's probably a 25 pointer.

As for the rep thing. There's a current bug with console reloadui and a couple of other commands that wipes your reputation tab. When you pick up any rep with a particular faction it resets to what you've earned so far, but the combat log reports it as having gained the amount of rep to reach that point as if you'd started at 0/3000 Neutral.

Just a display thing :)

I chose the RFK piggy purely for looks - cos it looks as if it has plate armour - very nice indeed.

Having the charge ability is pretty good - its nice in pvp WSG etc stopping the flag carrier. afaik it doesn't stun at all - all it does is just root them in place for 1 second. Not all that really but its a nice feature to have. I mostly like the pig due to its high health, high armour and the fact it eats absolutely anything.

Random nub Q here, what the honor rank after honered, and if you get said rank in Alterac Valley (frostwolf?) what does it do for you.

I'm 100 points of changing rank after spending many a happy hour spawning/dieing like a dog.

Looks like you will spend many more hours in AV and even more in queue :).

Please find the reward page here - epics for 45 gold is something to look for ;).
