Okay, so bought this, with average hopes. was hoping for some funny dialogue ala stephen merchant from portal 2, with some puzzling play and open choices.

So open the suggested first door, get annoyed by overly lengthy boring dialogue "SHUTUP ALREADY", refuse to go upstairs to boss, decide to take other door downstairs, after 5 minutes of running around in circles, with more nonsensical dialogue, I end up dead on the street, not before some more boring lengthy dialogue, before finding out it was the end.

At this point the game starts again .. with same dialogue .. at which point I think .. what's the point ?

I clearly don't get it ... at all. which is confusing considering the favourable across the board reviews.

That first part is your problem, its all about the dialogue and the way it reacts to what you are doing, there's a whole message/commentary on some stuff I won't mention as it spoils the fun for the people going through. Its a bit like Gone Home, its not so much a game in the conventional sense as just a visual story.

Ref .. what I meant was .. I would have to listen to two minutes of the SAME dialogue again, before trying something different. I couldn't be arsed. I'm too impatient

If it's all about the myriad of different possible endings, that would mean so much repetitious dialogue.

I hate repetition.

I think my problem is I don't 'dig' the narrator :/

Just to give you some idea of the crazy here, there is a part of the game you can only do by doing something for 4 hours, and its not something you can do by leaving it running you have to actively do the thing for 4 hours.

I spent six hours walking around the same circular corridor and didn't level up my walking skill or even get an achievement. Game didn't even tell me where to go to find the next button; pressed it for 4 hours but then something happened and the game started over again. wtf! So just camped in a cupboard but it killed me again?!? What a load of toss. Hope the DLC is good and they add more levels in the next one.

Stanley Parable isn't that bad. Its not as good a walking simulator as Proteous, but its pretentious enough to twiddle your ironic moustache to.

Its no Gone Homo though.
