So what's on the horizon for you ?

Rage ? Skyrim (ooer, missus) ? BioShock Infinite ? CoD MW3 (hawk .. spit) ? Serious Sam 3 BFE ? BF3 ?

I do fancy a look at Rage, since it is iD afterall ? BF3, will it feel different enough from BF BC2 ?

I have Deus Ex3 and Bioshock 2 both just started, but to be honest now, I keep going back again and again to TF2 when I need a bit of fun, so I wonder if I'm wasting my time looking for the 'next big thing'. I'd like something to be like Half Life, totally incredible, but so many games are just derivatives of FPS stuff. And although I like tower defence games, my heart has always been with FPS.

So really, I'd like to see the Half-Life for 2011 released, the world only needs so many variants of CoD.

Backburner.

[Incidentally, Valve have built in a very capable 'Botmatch' into TF2 now, if you set up a 24 player 'Expert' session, it gives you a far better game than you often manage on pub servers. Doesn't do all the maps unfortunately, and some of the bots do silly things, sentry placement being the main weakness. I only mention it, because I thought it would be rubbish and just a noob-teaching thing, but it's quite good for practicing]

I did like BioShock and liked DEHR enough to finish it, but, had a few niggly things about it I didn't like. Thanks to tk, was directed towards a high res text pack for the original Deus Ex, so I dug out my CD out of curiosity, but have started playing it again.

I used to love the early CoD releases, it was all about the SP. It was fantastic. Now its all f*cked. MP is fun, but immersive stories in FPS games are becoming extinct :(

I think Valve's experiment with episodic content failed because they didn't want to be 'on the hook' to provide each new episode. People would only hope for Half Life 3, but they would 'expect' another episode, after another after another. I don't think they wanted to be beholding and not be able to decide what they want to work on.

I don't think Valve expected the level success they achieved with CS and then TF2. So they do like to keep an open mind and I think episodic content was too restrictive. Wireplay was offered CS, or was it Wireplay made a play for CS ? Can't remember, but I remember they were in talks with Goose for a while, nothing came of it .... another f*ck up by Gameplay's Dynamic Duo.

Oh ... and Co-Op .. another diversion ... Co-Op and MP should be icing on the cake. There is now no cake.

Planetside 2. Max Payne 3. Skyrim. BF3. Batman AC. I'll be keeping an eye on this lot (and more besides) over the coming months.

Still playing through The Witcher 2 on and off which I'm really enjoying despite the slight niggles - astonishing looking game, really rich background and lore. Finished DE:HR - cracking game, but didn't leave anything like the lasting impression on me that the first game did (which was always going to be nigh-on impossible in real terms...us gamers can be a tough crowd). I didn't have much love for BioShlock first time around, and I've yet to install the sequel... the new one does look shit-the-bed spectacular thus far though!

In answer to your post of:

Rage ? Skyrim (ooer, missus) ? BioShock Infinite ? CoD MW3 (hawk .. spit) ? Serious Sam 3 BFE ? BF3 ?

Please review the finalised list:

Rage, Skyrim, Serious Sam 3 BFE & BF3

BioShock infinite too, but you don't have to worry about that until middle of next year. I think. (?)

I'd like another Fallout in time for the Christmas break please. One set in Northern city or perhaps London. Doesn't have to be post-apocalyptic. I'll be bringing that shit to the party.

I've been constantly playing minecraft for ages now and now that 1.8 is out and 1.9 is on it's way soon (pre-release already out) it's become quite a quality game, especially the limited resource survival island games you can easily set up with the new biomes (put in the
Seed 'Water' for a quality one

Oh yuh - Max Payne 3, how could I forget? That's what I'm looking forward to!

Doubt anything will measure up to the visceral nastiness of MP1, dead babies, drugs and Baseball Bat Boy and all, but you know, all things considered as long as it isn't like Far Cry 2 (spit) it should be good.

There really was a golden age of FPS gaming wasn't there?

Half-Life + The Expansion Packs, Iron Storm, Quake 2, Unreal, TFC, Max Payne, KIngpin (I think I said that before), RTCW, Deus Ex. How many sodding hours did I sink into shooting things? I barely like to contemplate.

I still get waves of nostalgia when I hear that bass note whenever TF2 starts up (with the guy with the valve stuck in his head).

On PS3, I'm waiting for CODMW3. Black Ops was the first one I'd played and it was good fun.

Currently I've been playing the new Deus Ex, although lost interest in the last couple of weeks.

PC games are no longer on the agenda for me; I've not even played Half Life based games for an age!

Seems like a theme - I bought Bioshock 2 recently for about £3, played it and enjoyed it thoroughly - definitely worth a squirt (and/or £3).

I have a significant backlog of stuff I want to play, but of the things that are yet to be released, a couple are still managing to enter the to do list near or at the top. In particular: hoping for DE: Human Revolution for my birthday, then GoW3, Skyrim and I am very excited about Dark Souls - spiritual successor to Demon's Souls (which is awesome, by the way).

I just finally got around to playing the original StarCraft and its Brood War expansion - finished it yesterday and began SC2. Speaking of which, anyone on here play SC2 online? I've never played a RTS multiplayer, other than on a LAN with 1 other person, but I'm thinking this one I've got to.

The only other highlight that isn't necessarily going to be on all of your lists: the Ico & Shadow of Colossus HD revamps that just came out for PS3. Always wanted to play these...

No idea on release dates for this stuff and I CBA to google, so any of...
Star Wars: The Old Republic
Guild Wars 2
Batman: Arkham City
CoD:MW3. MW2 must be my most played single player game in recent times, it's superb.
Max Payne 3
Diablo 3

Will also get Deus Ex HR when it comes down in price.

Also just read this on PC Gamer
The Lucasarts recruitment site has put out an ad, spotted by Gamespot, looking for a senior gameplay engineer for an aerial combat title. Among the requirements listed, experience in flight sims, “especially space-based shooters” is down as a plus. Lucasarts are of course responsible for some of the best space shooters ever made, X-Wing and Tie Fighter. Dare we hope?

BF3 (without a massive amount of enthusiasm, as ill almost definitely end up having to spend money to get my computer to run it half decent), planetside 2 might be a massive game again. new star wars mmo ill probably get but i think im not going to like.

my favourite game atm is definitely world of tanks, which i heartily recommend to others btw. the new cod game can go fuck spiders as far as im concerned. ive lost all patience with that particular franchise.

I've locked myself into a trunk until this comes out. I enjoyed Planetside so will keep an eye out for P2 if i'm alive by then.

... indeed ... I had a reading spaz ... I begrudginly spent 39.99 and begrudginly used Origin to order because it said 'early' access.

Of course on a different page I found out that it was only if you had MoH Tier 1 etc. gits.

So gotta wait until 29th Sept for beta. Which should be fun. Latest vid posted by porneh looks awesome.

Nah, you can start playing now Cacker if you've bought and paid for it, I am.
They'll email you a key and you redeem it through Origin, it's quite easy as I managed it.
Don't expect the game to be great though, even though it is only beta.
